Scotland – The Place To Be For Mountain Bikers!

After you’ve bought mountain bikes online, you’re going to want to put them through their paces as soon as you get your hands on the handlebars… but where to go first?

Luckily, we’re blessed with some incredible countryside here in the UK so you actually don’t have to go too far afield for a good ride. Scotland, in actual fact, is one of the best places for mountain bikers to pedal their way through so if you are planning a biking holiday, what about putting it at the top of your list?

One of the best reasons for visiting Scotland is that there’s a right to roam rule, which means you can ride your bike basically wherever you want as long as it’s not been expressly forbidden… so you really are spoiled for choice.

If you’re looking for popular trails, make your way to Glentress – just an hour outside Edinburgh in the Tweed Valley and home to amazing walking and mountain biking opportunities. There are different routes to suit all abilities so it doesn’t matter if you’re new to biking – you can still have a great time and really learn the ropes before tackling some more challenging trails.

The hedonists among you, however, should think about making Innerleithen their first pit stop, since it’s famous for its four downhill trails that have all been graded orange Bike Park Extreme. It’s also a brilliant choice for cross-country biking – so check out the red-graded Innerleithen XC trail if you’re after a bit of a thrill.
