Road Bike Trends To Watch

If you’ve been thinking about investing in new road bikes in the West Midlands, you might want to take a look at some of the trends expected to emerge in such bikes in the coming 12 months, in case one of them is a must-have for your cycling experience.

The experts at Bike Radar have helpfully put together a list of things to look out for – not all of them will be appropriate for all riders, but it’s good to know what’s likely to be available in the next year.

One trend to watch out for is a move towards 1x drivetrains, with designers looking for ways to make road bikes lighter and more aerodynamic. The publication notes that this won’t suit all riders, with those who want smaller steps between gears likely to prefer double chainsets, but there will be some who will find this change appealing.

More comfortable road bikes with larger tyres are another trend to watch out for in the new year, with Bike Radar noting that this makes these models “better suited to real-world riding”, rather than the super slimline models designed purely for speed.

There will also be more e-road bikes out and about in the coming year, the publication predicted, noting that there are now more lightweight models available.

Cyclist magazine recently recommended taking the time to think seriously about what you’re going to be using your new bike for, before starting your hunt for your perfect set of wheels. Setting your budget is also important, but should be a bit easier once you have an idea of how often you’ll be zipping around on two wheels.
