Learn To Ride At The Birmingham BMX Club

Buying your first UK BMX bikes is only the first step to becoming a super champion rider – you’ll have to put in the hours on the training circuit first as well!

And if you’re in the West Midlands, then one of the best places to go for a bit of help is the Birmingham BMX Club in Perry Bar, which offers coaching and training sessions for all level of riders from novices to those who are more advanced.

For beginners, it’s all about building your confidence up and having fun – naturally, you’ll want to start doing tricks as soon as you can but if you don’t have faith in your own abilities, you could land on your head.

Video equipment is used so you can focus on technique and improve your performance – and the best bit is that there are always lots of experienced riders on hand so you can pick their brains to help up your own game. Check out the Club’s Twitter and Facebook pages so you can find out when training sessions are taking place, although they’re usually on Friday evenings – depending on the weather!

Watching other people ride is also a great way of finding inspiration and motivation, so go to a couple of bike events to see what others can do. Between August 12th and 13th, there’s the 2017 BMX National Series Cyclopark in Gravesend in Kent. Keep your eyes peeled for championship women’s series leader Bethany Shriever, as well as Blaine Ridge-Davis and Kye Whyte – all ones to watch!
